DF&E is divided into a number of Player Turns, each of which represents six months. Each of the turns is further divided into two parts. One part for the Coalition player and/or players (Klingon, Lyran and Romulan) and one part for the Alliance player and/or players (Federation, Gorn, Hydran, and Kzinti). The player and/or players who is/are conducting their turn is/are known as the "Phasing Player(s)" while the other player(s) is/are the "Non-Phasing Player(s)". Each Player Turn is made up of 9 steps, which must be completed in the exact order shown. Each step must be completed by the "Phasing Player(s)" before going to the next step. The "Non-Phasing Player(s) may perform some functions in Steps 3, 4, and 5. The visual play-by-plays would had used 4 complete DF&E maps to present what happens each turn. All Bases and Planets would be shown on the maps. Fleets and individual ships would be shown on these maps as counters. |
